Where were I ??

Folks may wonder what I have been doing that has kept me from the business of keeping up with blogging for the last three months. Well, my 85th birthday sort of got me thinking that I didn’t have a lot of time left and I should be using what time there was in “doing” instead of writing about things I had done. I love to read and I hadn’t done much of that recently and the “NOOK” was sitting right there ready to help me do it. So below is a list of books (not literature) that I have read since May 18, 2010.

“The Promise” by Jonathan Alter
“Point of Origin” by Patricia Cornwell
“The Cove” by Catherine Coulter
"A Dangerous Fortune” by Ken Follett
“The Surgeon” by Tess Gerritsen
"The Apprentice” by Tess Gerritsen
“K is for Killer” by Sue Graftin
“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” by Stieg Larsson
“The Girl who Played with Fire” by Stieg Larsson
“The Naked Viscount” by Sally MacKenzie
“Think of a Number” by John Verdon
“Loitering with Intent” by Stuart Woods

In addition, I have nibbled at, but not completely read:

“The Federalist” by Alexander Hamilton and friends
The Invention of Air by Steven Johnson
Poems by Vachel Lindsay
The King James Version Holy Bible Edited by God
Essential Tales and Poems by Edgar Allen Poe by Same

Barnes and Noble say they have well over a million ebooks available so I think I can stay with reading as long as need be.

Kenju- That's easy! The Promise is a serious book, but easy to read. It flows like a mystery, but it is very educational. The two by Larsson ARE mysteries and way up on my lifetime list of mysteries. I think if Larsson had lived he would have been among the most respected among authors of that genre.

Keith- You hit a sore spot. I bought the Nook for my wife's birthday and then usurped it. She has been a good sport, but I still have to do something about that.

Ah, I read three of the books in your list in the same time frame (the Larsson ones and the Ken Follet) :-).

What joy to be able to spend hours together reading. I forgive you for not being more regular with blogging - reading gets higher priority in my world too!

Here's wishing you many, many, many more years of happy reading!

HAPPY 85th! you do know you're one of my all-time favorite bloggers, right? :) so i'm always happy when you keep posting. love your reading list. i read a lot, too...never think to write down what i've read...but i'm at the library at least 3 times a week. here's to more doing (i.e., living) instead of blogging (even though i love to read your posts) especially when the doing is reading. ;)

I must say that your blog and you, yourself, is admirable. At the age of 85, you get the blog and people get to listen about what wisdom you have to share. Keep it up.

I accidetally read this blog entry of yours and its.... amazing.
